Black Queens of Ghana Miss Out On Grabbing A Spot At Paris Olympic Games

The Black Queens of Ghana have been beaten by their Zambian counterparts in the third round of their qualifying tie to lose the spot to the Zambian ladies in Ndola, Zambia after a six-goal thriller coming in a 3-goal a piece in the fully-packed stadium on Wednesday, February 28,2024.

The first leg which came off on Friday, February 23, 2024 saw the Black Queens losing to the Zambian side by 1 unanswered goal in Accra making it a 4:3 win on aggregate for the Copper Queens, elevating them towards the next level of reaching the next stage of qualification to Paris Olympic Games coming up in the summer of this year, 2024.

The coach of the Black Queens of Ghana, Nora Hauplte after the game asserted that despite her team’s inability to qualify to the Olympics, her charges gave out a blistering performance and very commendable display throughout their qualifying games till their dreams got shuttered yesterday by the Copper Queens of Zambia. “My team was brave, my team was playing football, my team was fighting, I can’t blame them at all. Sometimes it’s hard. They scored a free kick and the red card in the last minute. We would have loved to go overtime but all in all it’s disappointing for us but kudos to Zambia.” Said, the trainer in charge, Nora Hauptle.

On the other hand, she registered her disappointment but the performance of her charges supeceded that of the former as she heaped praises on the players for a solid display.

The team is expected to leave for their respective clubs both local and international as they gear up to compete in their various leagues to complete the season before converging again to prepare for the 2024 Women’s AFCON in Morocco.
